What is Yoga
The word 'yoga' is a Sanskrit term which means to yoke. Yoga seeks to bring about the union of mind, body and breath. The yoga practitioner seeks to join his or her individual soul with the universe thus seeking a more meaningful and peaceful existence.
There are many different types of yoga and each offer a different path. Hatha yoga focuses on the body as a means of bringing wholeness and balance by using postures (asana), breath control (pranayama) and meditation.
At the Yoga space we teach Astanga Vinyasa Yoga and Vinyasa Flow which are both a flowing, dynamic form. We also teach Hatha yoga, slower and more relaxed. We also offer baby yoga, kids and pregnancy yoga. Everyone can practise yoga regardless of age, health or ability. We offer regular workshops on many different aspects from slower more meditative practices to fun partner Yoga. Yoga is a vast subject and there are many different approaches but its benefits are the same. The asanas (postures) are the same too so regardless of what Yoga you practice the physical asana shares a common language.
